YouTube's add-to-queue Icon – 3D render

Spline

3D Modelling

Thumbnail Design

If this is looking familiar to you, you might have seen it over on my blog! I wrote about how YouTube changed an essential add-to-queue feature—you can read the article here.

I decided that I want to use Spline to help make my blog cover images from now on. This one is the first!

Interactive 3D

Getting into 3D has been something on my mind for quite a while now, and Spline is just the tool for me to use! Not only can I use it to create models for exporting and static imagery like this, I can also embed them in the Framer sites I build!

Render Options

I played around with lighting and angles to see which one I liked best. The fourth one best highlighted the icon itself without letting the 3D modelling overtake its significance so I went with that one as the final render.

Finishing Touches

I brought the render into Photoshop to add in the background and add some effects. I gave the model a nice glow and applied tilt-shift blur to the top and bottom if it.

The finished piece now resides as the cover image for this blog post!
