CMS

Pat Scott is a local painter here in British Columbia, Canada. She paints almost every single day and has accrued a collection of over 200 paintings (some as big as 48"x60")!

Her Husband, Terry, wanted a fresh new site to house the collection to better showcase the work and offer them for sale.

I designed and built their new site entirely in Framer as well as transfer over the existing catalog of paintings from the old site that had not been updated since 2017.

Responsive Design

Having a nice, shiny desktop experience doesn't mean much when their primary experience is on their tablets. and a seamless mobile experience is key when out and about, sharing the link or QR code with potential customers.

A Bespoke Experience

Everything down to the copy is carefully considered, communicating the care surrounding the art and artist.

Each page takes the opportunity to highlight a breathtaking piece that links right to the product page.

The Core Element

Navigating through 200+ paintings, the item card is crucial in showing essential info without being cumbersome.

I took inspiration from seed packets, listing out the name at the top like the tearable section. The image takes center stage with details blending in.

The Importance of the Tablet Experience

Both Pat and Terry don't use a desktop or laptop computer — they solely use their iPads, so keeping the navigation large and legible for ease of use was key.

The elements of the desktop navigation translate well to the tablet breakpoint, and mobile navigation received a different layout to accommodate the form factor.

Business Cards

In addition to the site, I also designed business cards to match the new visual identity. The layout of the desktop & tablet header translated really well to the front of the business card, unifying the look and feel between the two. I kept the back very minimal, emphasizing the QR code.

Handouts

I've been making flyers for Pat and Terry before designing their site—after finishing the new site, I updated the flyers to match. I did a show flyer but also designed a general flyer to be handed out and put on a bulletin to increase website traffic and the reach of Pat's art.
